Frequently asked questions

How the curator model works, who makes what’s in the edit, and the basics on shipping and returns.

How the edit works

Wait — does PetalGlow make these products?+

No. PetalGlow is a curator, not a manufacturer. Every product in the edit is made by an independent maker, and we credit them on the product page. We pick what makes the shelf, test it ourselves, and write the curator note.

Why curate instead of make your own line?+

Because building a clean-beauty house brand at the quality bar we hold would mean ten years and millions of dollars in lab costs. We'd rather find ten makers already doing it well and bring them to one shelf — with honest notes about why.

How do I know who actually made a product?+

Check the product page. The maker credit appears under the product title (e.g., "Made by ROSCITS"). When we're still sourcing the maker's full story, we say so honestly rather than leaving it ambiguous.

Are the products in the edit cruelty-free?+

Yes — cruelty-free at the maker level is a baseline filter. If a maker tests on animals, we don't list them.

Are they all vegan?+

Vegan status varies by product (some makers use beeswax or honey peptides). Each product page lists ingredients from the maker — check there. Most of the edit is vegan, but we don't claim it as a blanket.

What ingredients won't make it into the edit?+

Parabens, sulfates (SLS, SLES), phthalates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, formaldehyde donors, triclosan, and PEGs. If a maker uses these, we don't list them.

Are these safe for sensitive skin?+

Most makers in our edit formulate with sensitivity in mind — fragrance-free, low-irritant actives. The maker's full ingredient list is on the product page. We always recommend a 24-hour patch test behind your ear before applying to your face.

Which products are right for my skin type?+

Take the Skin Quiz to get a personalized recommendation from the edit. Or read the curator notes on individual products — we say what each one is best for.

Do any products in the edit contain SPF?+

Not yet — pair anything in the edit with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.

Skincare Basics

How long until I see results?+

Hydration: days. Brightness: 2-4 weeks. Texture and dark spots: 4-8 weeks. Anti-aging: 8-12 weeks. Skincare is a 90-day project — give each routine time before judging.

In what order should I apply products?+

Lightest to heaviest. AM: Cleanser → Toner → Serum → Moisturizer → SPF. PM: Cleanser → (exfoliate 2-3x/week) → Treatment Serum → Moisturizer.

How often should I exfoliate?+

Most skin: 2-3 times per week with AHA/BHA. Sensitive skin: 1x per week. More than 3x = barrier damage.

Can I use retinol and vitamin C together?+

Use vitamin C in the AM, retinol in the PM. They're both effective separately — don't need to be combined in the same step.

What's the difference between a cleansing balm and a regular cleanser?+

Cleansing balms are oil-based and remove SPF, makeup, and oil-based grime that water-based cleansers can't. Use a cleansing balm first (PM only), then your regular foam cleanser.
